Rissy No Kissies
It’s never too early to start conversations on consent. Rissy is a lovebird, a type of bird that’s historically been known as a very affectionate breed that loves to kiss and be kissed. However kissing makes Rissy very uncomfortable. This choice to opt out is her own, it’s not because she’s sick, mad, or confused, she just plain old doesn’t like it. Not wanting to kiss her friends and family does not make her any less of a lovebird.
A great story for young kids to understand that you are the boss of your body, and no one can or should tell you any different. Rissy No Kissies underlines the fact that "your body and your heart are yours, and you choose how to share."
A note at the end offers further conversation ideas for kids, parents, and educators about body autonomy, consent, and different ways to show affection.
