The Noisy Paint Box

I studied Kandinsky extensively in college as an art history major and was excited to find this gem to share with my kids. Vastly Kandinsky was a gifted artist who experienced the world differently than most as a result of his synthesia. For Vasily color manifested as sounds, navy might vibrate as cello strings while green dots burbled like a brook, and lemon yellow circles resonated like the highest noted on a keyboard. His art was largely misunderstood during his lifetime, but it provided him a deep sense of pleasure and satisfaction, a productive creative outlet to express himself.

After reading this book, we experimented in the Google Chrome Music Lab, a la Kandinsky. It was so fun to have my kids experience strokes of color, shapes, and line as Kandinsky did, through melodic sound and music.
