I’m a longtime fan of Ann Patchett’s books, so I was curious how I’d like her children’s book. Lambslide is a fun story beginning with a mishearing of the word “landslide,” hence kicking off an elaborate project to create and construct a literal lambslide. The illustrations are reminiscent of Fancy Nancy (same illustrator) and I appreciated the Mother Lamb’s character, who when questioned by the lambs of what to do next, responds with questions of her own, promoting the lambs to think critically and problem solve independently. A fun, light-hearted story with a fun finale.
