Lubna and Pebble
I appreciate books can articulate situations and circumstances that I, as an adult, still find difficult to wrap my mind around. Lubna and Pebble is a story that subtly addresses the aftermath of war and a child’s experience as a refugee in a camp far from home. This book was able to shed light situations and circumstances that neither my children nor I have experienced, and cannot personally relate to; but in reading Lubna’s story, we talked about feeling empathy for Lubna, her unfortunate situation, and her life. Life is hard, and I am of the opinion that it’s important to talk about the hard stuff with my kids too.
