Bob Ross and Peapod the Squirrel
I love books that give context to things my kids will never quite understand first hand. My oldest son loves to paint and draw. We have an art table where he is constantly doodling, painting, crafting, cutting, and gluing creations. We talked about how back in my day (oldilocks alert) there was a man who painted live on TV, how he started with a blank canvas and proceeded to add detail until it was a masterpiece.
I discovered this book, Bob Ross and Peapod the Squirrel which actually illustrates a real Bob Ross original page by page through the lens of helping a forest friend, Peapod. It’s kind of corny but it brought to life the story I had explained to him and gave my son a visual to better understand.
Now, if only we could find books about the concepts of video stores, landlines, and waiting all week for your favorite TV show to come on at a designated time...
