Mae's First Day of School

Teachers tend to collect first day of school books. Those first few weeks are a blur of teaching the ropes, routines, and norms for your new classroom, and reading about others’ first days helps ease that transition.

Reminding students that others feel might feel anxious, nervous, or any emotion other than pure excitement is important, as it helps that one worried kiddo feel significantly less alone. If that kid is yours- this is a great book for you! If that kid is not yours- Mae's First Day of School is still great to read, as a reminder to offer grace, compassion, and empathy to those who might show up with tears rather than smiles.
