The Little Bit Scary People
Ever been quick to judge a book by its cover? Is your hand in the air? I admit, I've definitely been guilty of this at times.
The Little Bit Scary People is an accessible book about teaching kids that what we see is not always what it seems. For the grownup at school that seems fierce and intimidating, the teenager blasting loud music and eccentric clothes, or the police officer barking loud commands at the jaywalkers - there is much more to these people than their physical exterior. There is more to them than our first impressions and the conclusions one might draw from these encounters.
I love this book for what it shows, that making assumptions and drawing your own conclusions without basis in fact does not equate to to truth. This book shows that people have many sides, many strengths, gifts, and gives insight into a handful of individuals that are not what they might seem.
