Lulu and the Brontasaurus
Looking for a first read aloud chapter book? Lulu and the Brontosaurus might be right up your alley!
I read this annually to my first grade classes, who loved it. Lulu is a little girl notorious for getting exactly what she wants. She screeches, she yells, she throws epic feet kicking tantrums and her parents willingly give in...Every. Single. Time. Until one day when she demands a brontosaurus for her birthday and her flummoxed parents come up empty handed. Lulu’s foot stomping ridiculousness leads her to take matters into her own hands, finding herself the perfect brontosaurus and declaring him her pet. Or is he?
I love the way Judith Viorst portrays child temper tantrums which will have young readers in hysterics without giving them ideas (as it’s definitely told through a what-not-to-do lens). A fresh and funny story peppered with black and white illustrations that will surprise you again and again.
