Fanny at Chez Panisse
My aunt bought me Fanny at Chez Panisse for my birthday 20+ years ago. Before the days when organic, sustainable, farm-raised, and cafe free were household terms. I remember pouring over the pages in awe at the idea of dining at a restaurant and having the ability to stroll to an in-house garden to pick produce straight from the vine.
This boo is just that. Magic for any culinary inspired young mind. Peppered with anecdotes about Fanny (chef Alice Waters' niece) and an insightful glimpse into the busy hum of restaurant life through a kids lens.
Aged for able readers, probably 4th grade and up. If you're a fan of Alice Waters, or encouraging young readers to branch out from their gustatory rut, this is a lovely book worthy of a read.
