Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet

I feel like Fancy Nancy often gets a bad rap, but I've found some good underlying messages woven in. Take Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet for example, when Nancy's best friend Bree gets the part in the play that she desperately wanted. Nancy is devastated, upset, and very jealous, but doesn't know how to deal with these emotions toward her best friend.

This plot line is very real and relatable and offers kids insight into reacting with grace and how to be happy for your friends' successful in spite of your jealousy. This book explains and articulates why these feelings are normal, quite common, and actually okay.
